The Everest region is one of the most well-known and popular trekking destinations in the world, home to Everest, the highest mountain of the world (8848m). This region lies in the eastern part of Nepal in the Solukhumbu district. Treks to this region offer breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest mountains and other beautiful smaller peaks, vast beautiful landscapes, Buddhist monasteries and interesting Sherpa villages. In the Everest region trekkers have the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of the Himalayan people, their religion, customs and traditions. This region lies within the Sagarmatha National Park (1148 sq. km) which was established in 1976 and was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979. Spectacular flora and fauna inhabit the park, including pine and birch trees and colorful rhododendron flowers which flourish in spring.
