This trek is a classic medium trek and is considered one of the best trekking trails in the world. It is located in the Annapurna region of Mustang district. The trail follows part of the famous Annapurna circuit and reaches near the border of Upper Mustang at Kagbeni. During the trek you will enjoy dramatic mountain scenery, alpine deserts, the Tibetan plateau, turbulent rivers with deep gorges, crystal clear lakes, hot springs, and the world's biggest rhododendron forest. You will encounter a different way of life with the many different people and their cultures. The well-known Muktinath temple, sacred for both Hindus and Buddhists, has a beautiful and attractive water fountain. For this trek, you don’t need to be worried about any previous mountaineering training or technical experience and although the terrain is not very difficult, some vigorous hiking experience and good physical condition is very useful.

Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu airport and you will be transferred to the hotel by one of our representatives.
Overnight: Hotel

Day 02 : Kathmandu:In the morning, we will visit Patan, a true open air museum with its pagodas, temples, and monasteries. In the afternoon, we will visit Durbar Square, the old royal palace, and the house of the Kumari (living goddess,) reincarnation of Kali.

Day 03 : Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) by tourist coach bus: In the afternoon we will visit Devi’s Falls, a waterfall flowing through a very deep and narrow canal. We will also visit Guptesowri Cave, a very natural and attractive cave, and Phewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal, 1.5 km long.

Day 04 : Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1540m): We will drive about 1 ½ hours to Nayapul and begin our trek to Tikhedhunga. Before reaching Tikhedhunga, the check post police will check our TIMS card and conservation permit at Birethati village, which is situated beside the Modikhola river. This is the center point of the trek and the starting and ending of the Annapurna region.

Day 05 : Trek Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m) Via Ulleri and Nangethati; we will walk about 7 hours to Ghorepani. From Tikhedhunga, we start with a steep, rocky climb to Ulleri, a large Magar village at 2070m. Along the trail we will see a nice, colorful rhododendron forest, blooming in the months of April and May.

Day 06 : Trek Ghorepani to Tatopani (1190m): In the early morning we will hike to Poon Hill (3210m) for the wonderful mountain scenery. Here, we can see Dhaulagiri-8167m, Fishtail-6998m, Annapurna I-8091m, Annapurna II-7939m, Annapurna III-7555m, Annapurna IV-7525m, Himchuli-6441m, Annapurna South-7219m, Tukuche Peak-6920m, and Lamjung Himal-6986m. From Poon Hill we will retrace our steps to Ghorepani and after having breakfast we will continue our trek, descending to Tatopani. We will pass through the villages of Chitre, Shikha and Ghara and we’ll cross one suspension bridge over the Kali Gandaki River. Tatopani means "Hot Water" in Nepali and there is natural hot spring by the river side, which is excellent for a relaxing soak.

Day 07 : Trek Tatopani to Ghasa (1970m): Today, the trail will ascend through Dana Village and Rupse Chhahara (1550m). In Rupse Chhahara we will eat lunch and then continue our trek to Ghasa where we will spend the night. The highlight of the day will be the beautiful waterfall view in Rupse Chhahara. You can see several flat-roofed Tibetan style houses in Ghasa.

Day 08 : Trek Ghasa to Marpha (2670m): The trek to Marpha takes about 6 hours. We will pass through Kalopani and Tukuche and follow the Kali Gandaki gorge. Marpha is a small charming Thakali village at 2670m. All of the houses are made with mud and stones and the narrow streets are paved with flat stones. Marpha is popular for its apples. Apple Raksi (Spirit) and Apple cider is available. We can visit the Marpha Monastery during our free time.

Day 09 : Trek Marpha to Kagbeni (2800m): We will leisurely walk about 2 hours to Jomsom at an altitude of 2700m. Jomsom is a big, beautiful village with many facilities and a small domestic airport. The airport is connected only with Pokhara. Jomsom is the administrative headquarters of the district. From Jomsom, we will walk 3 hours to Kagbeni (2800m). On the way you will see a lot of black fossils, "Saligram" which local people may be selling. Kagbeni is a very interesting and medieval village with stone houses, narrow alleys, green fields, and high mountains. It is not very far from the legendary Mustang and Lo Monthang.
NOTE: Mustang is a controlled trekking region so a separate permit is required to travel in Mustang. Therefore we recommended that you not to walk north of this village because this is border of the Mustang.

Day 10 : Trek Kagbeni to Muktinath (3760m): The trek will take about 4 hours to reach our destination at Muktinath. We will ascend for a couple hundred meters. Today, we will enjoy the beautiful desert landscape, old Tibetan style villages, and the Thorung La valley. After reaching Ranipauwa, we can hike to Muktinath Temple (3700m), a very important religious site for Hindus and Buddhists. We can see the natural, underground flame and after a few minutes of walking will reach the main temple where we may see many pilgrims bathing in the holy water from the 108 spouts carved in the shape of cow's heads surrounding the Vishnu temple. The temple is built in Tibetan style and contains huge brass idols of Shiva, Vishnu, Kali and Brahma.

Day 11 : Trek Muktinath to Jomsom (2750m): Heading away from Muktinath, we will retrace our steps to Jomsom, leaving with beautiful views of Nilgiri. This is the last day of the trek and we will celebrate in Jomsom.

Day 12 : Flight Jomsom–Pokhara–Kathmandu (1334m): The flight from Jomsom to Pokhara is 20 minutes and the flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu is 30 minutes. Afternoon, free time in Kathmandu.

Flight Jomsom-Pokhara: 20 minutes
Flight Pokhara-Kathmandu: 30 minutes
Difference in Elevation: - 1416m.
Day 13 : Bhaktapur and Kathmandu: Today, you will be escorted by our experienced city tour guide as we travel approximately one hour by bus/van to visit the very ancient city of Bhaktapur. After lunch we will return Kathmandu where you will have the afternoon free for sightseeing and shopping.

Day 14 : Today we will visit Pashupatinath, the ancient and most holy of Hindu temples, Boudhanath, the largest stupa in Nepal, built in the 14th century, and Soyambhunath, one of the world’s most glorious stupas, famous for its Buddha eyes which seems to be observing the world from four different directions.

Day 15 : Transfer to the airport and departure.

This Itinerary can be customized according to the duration of your holiday. The Trek can be operated with Lodge/tea house and/or camping accommodation, based on your preference. We have many options for shorter visits based on your interests and budget. For the Pokhara-Kathmandu segment, we can depart by flight or by bus/van.
