This is newly opened famous trekking route in the Everest region which lies in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Pikey Peak (4065m) is tallest hill of this district and this peak is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views during clear weather. The name Pikey is derived from the name of a Sherpa clan deity. During the month of July the locals hold celebrations to worship their clan god, the eastern Chyabo Pikey, as Pikey Hlapchen Karbu. There are other interesting possible tourist activities at Pikey such as paragliding, mountain biking, bird watching, pilgrimage and meditation. The highlights of this trek will be: panoramic views of the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Annapurna; unique Sherpa and other community cultures where you can explore the village life; and picturesque landscapes. This trek is useful for the people who have a very short holiday or are not able to go to a very high altitude area. You have no need to worry about altitude sickness on this trek.
No special training is required, however, good physical condition, a love of walking and desire to enjoy the panoramic views of mountains and encounter village life are essential.
